Single Mothers!
I took a little August break. My daughter and I needed the time. Mid-August, I went MIA. I shut down as much as I could without letting life slip. Have you ever been there? Just needing to stop and wishing the world could pause along with you? I am here to tell you; it is ok to be still even when life keeps on moving. However, the key is to come back and keep on moving right along.
I know the road we currently walk isn’t always smooth, without debris. I know we come to moments where mountains seem to erect out of nowhere, or potholes erupt along our paths that we can’t manage to avoid. But please, keep moving.
My daughter kicks off Awana today, and we have been listening to her book’s CD. The story of the ten lepers that Jesus instructed to go see the priest keeps replaying in my mind. Due to their leprosy, they weren’t allowed in the village that Jesus was traveling in. So it was from a distance they shouted to Christ for healing. In Luke 17, verse 14, Jesus replies with instructions. “Go, show yourselves to the priest.”
That’s it!?! No other word and not even a promise of healing. Yet, they obeyed and walked to see the priest. Before arriving, they were healed. The Scripture says, “as they went, they were cleansed.” Sometimes, we go to God with our requests, He provides an answer, but because it doesn’t seem to be the answer we are looking for or even a solution associated with our ask, we stop altogether. It’s overwhelming and maybe even frustrating as it appears, not even Christ is addressing our cry for help.
What I have learned and continue to learn in this season of so much uncertainty is to keep moving with Christ. The more I trust Him and walk with Him, the more He leads me right where I am supposed to be to receive what He has for me. As we walk with our Savior, we will obtain all that we need and so much more. It is as we walk daily beside Him (actually a few steps behind so He may lead), it will all make sense. Remember, the lepers shouted from a distance and still received their healing. How much more will we receive when we come close and continue to walk with Him?
Our miracles await us on the road ahead. As we go with God, we will surely encounter each and every one!
Keep on moving my friends!
Love,
Nona A. Phinn
