Sharing Niomi is more than a blog. It is an inside look into my heart and the heart of many other single mothers. In the United States alone, it is estimated that there are 9.6 million single mothers walking among us, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Yet, when I realized that my marriage would not last and would be inducted into this group only six months into motherhood, I looked for help and could not find one safe place for women like me. I couldn’t find an organization, a group, a meet-up or even a club that would speak to this new life I was preparing to navigate.
I hope to make Sharing Niomi that place: A place where single mothers, no matter your story, can come together and discuss the reality behind co-parenting and/or raising our children on our own. It takes a village they say, but what happens when your village only includes one?
Join me each post as I tell you how I take on motherhood with my little girl guiding me along the way. We have plenty of great days to discuss, but each day is also faced with something unique because of our “non-traditional” family structure. I found the best way to truly reach the top of our mountains is to be honest about the fact that they are there. This is why I want to share my Niomi with you and look forward to you sharing your world with me!
Sincerely,
Nona A Phinn
